Nothing beats the calming, breezy feeling that white bedroom decor can evoke. When white is done wrong, however, good intentions can quickly lead to a sterile and cold looking space.

Our bedrooms are places to relax and unwind after a long day, so the last thing one could want is a blank canvas with no personality! Prevent these worries by adding select textures to soften a white room. Utilize one or more of the following tips to create a gentle white dreamscape right in your very own bedroom.

Textiles

The most versatile tool in white bedroom decor is the use of a variety of textiles. One of the major problems of a neutral palette is the tendency for spaces to look flat. Create depth by layering smooth and deeply textured blankets at the foot of the bed, or over an unused chair. Repetition can be weaved using similarly textured throws and pillows for balance.

A soft rug on a hardwood floor, perhaps even white shag, can expand these connections while unifying the floor with the rest of the room.

Accents

Judicious use of accents can make all the difference in white bedroom decor. Scatter delicate groupings of clear glass vases to remedy a bit of the depth disadvantage mentioned previously, but try to keep surfaces as open as possible. A stack of similarly sized magazines with white spines (paint always works in a pinch!) is a thoughtful touch, and can be topped off with a matte white vase and a crisp, freshly cut flower.
